Fly Casting with Big’Uns

no, not Al Bundy dream biggies… but BIG, nasty, otherwise hard to cast  flies !

here’s a really nice article from my friend Jim Williams straight out of Eat, Sleep Fish‘s fourth edition on simple tips for casting big heavy flies easily and more importantly, safely.

click either pic for the full article, enjoy !

(you’ll see my name there a few times but Jim did all the work. i just sent ‘telepathic mental candy’ to sooth out the chore )

the BIG and the NERVOUS Cobra-Contest ! Finale

eleven great entries, eleven hard choices but between the big and humorous, the glutinous  and the ‘out of focus… this one goes straight to the heart and the Nervous Water dvd prize goes to Simon Graham.
after all, a first trout on the fly is a BIG moment even from the NERVOUS pike fly fishing expert that he is !
good on ya Simon we all wish you many more !

sunday’s cat

…is a rendition of a prehistoric ancestor of the catfish i recently saw at the Stockholm Natural History Museum. this thing was big and blobby and most probably had a foul smell. it had that look. i guess they haven’t changed all that much.
